Does your mirror reflect who you really are? How you really feel? Many men and women share that they feel much younger and energetic than their face reflects. Yet others feel their hands age them far more than their face and seek a solution that addresses both the hands and the face.
What is that solution? Radiesse Dermal Filler. Approved by the FDA as the only filler capable of restoring youthful plumpness, it has become the treatment of choice for those who seek a younger more vibrant appearance without the commitment necessary for surgery.
What is Radiesse?
Radiesse is an FDA approved dermal filler for the hands and face comprised of calcium hydroxylapatite. Calcium is the material that bone is made from. Radiesse takes this compound and combines it with an injectable gel that plumps and smoothes the deeper wrinkles and fold in the face, such as the lines from the edge of the nose to the mouth. It is the only FDA approved hand filler. This compound fills the hollows of that hand that create the aged appearance.
Benefits of using Radiesse for hands
While filling in the deeper folds and wrinkles of the face is the usual goal of dermal fillers, Radiesse also corrects the effects of aging the hands. It has been stated that the hands relay the actual age of a woman or man. Over time, the natural fatty layer of tissue that lies between the outer skin and the bones and tendons tends to disappear. When that happens, the tendon, bones and knuckles tend to be more pronounced. This creates the impression of age. Dr. Correa’s Radiesse patients often share that they feel much younger than their face and hands indicate. The simple solution is a series of Radiesse injections.
Am I a good candidate for Radiesse injections?
The short answer is yes. You are looking for a solution to your aging challenges. We are able to give you those solutions.
If you are unsatisfied with the appearance of deeper lines in your face or of the aged appearance of your hands, you could be a beneficiary of Radiesse treatments.
Patients with a bleeding disorder as well as patients who are pregnant or who are breastfeeding should not seek Radiesse treatment. Also patients with blood disorders or skin infections should not use Radiesse.
Using Radiesse to plump the lips or the area around the eyes is not recommended as it isn’t yet known if this treatment is safe for those areas. Consult with Dr. Correa if there is any question concerning the use of Radiesse.
During your appointment for Radiesse, Dr. Correa will inject moderate amounts of Radiesse into deep lines and folds in the face to elevate skin tissue and create a refreshed appearance. In the hands, Radiesse is injected to fill in hollows and to supply missing fatty tissue. The erosion of fatty tissue is what creates the aged appearance of hands. This erosion of fatty tissue then emphasizes the tendons, bones and knuckles which creates the impression of age.
Once the Radiesse has been injected, immediate results are observable. However, the long lasting benefit of Radiesse will not become mature for several months.
Specific needs for Radiesse
Tell your radiologist that you have had Radiesse. That way he or she will know that your x-ray or CT scan is potentially compromised through the action of Radiesse.
Rejuvenating the hands requires an injection of Radiesse into the back of the hand to restore volume to the area. Injections may result in temporary inability to perform certain tasks. This will resolve over the upcoming months.
Radiesse requires little to no recovery. The most radical thing involved might be to wear tension bandages to the hands for a few hours. Other than that, recovering from Radiesse is easy and most patients receiving this treatment return to work or their regular activities within a week.
