You may already know that a facelift procedure is one of the best ways to attack signs of aging all at once. Only a facelift can help address sagging skin, baggy eyelids, and deep wrinkles around your forehead and eyes.
Sure, the results are tempting – but how long will you have to be in recovery before you see them?
Facelift recovery time is one of the most popular questions we’re asked at Correa Plastic Surgery in The Woodlands, TX. Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Bryan Correa knows that patients lead busy lives; after all, not everyone has weeks to devote to downtime.
You have places to be. People to see. Not to mention a busy family to look after!
Fortunately, recovery after a facelift can be surprisingly swift. Most people only need about two weeks of recovery before they are able to get back to everyday life. However, it’s important to note that here, “recovery” is meant in the sense of resting at home. There is a considerable amount of swelling and bruising that will still be present after the initial two weeks.
As far as when your results will ‘show up,’ much of your result can be seen around 3-6 weeks as the majority of swelling goes away, but a ‘final’ result is not known until complete healing at 1 year.
Given this information, many patients are concerned about when they can go out in public after a facelift procedure. Fortunately, the initial two-week recovery process is enough to get rid of the most obvious swelling and bruising. Dr. Correa can work with you to identify ways to address any concerns you might have over noticeable swelling and bruising.
It’s recommended that patients avoid strenuous activity for three to four weeks after the procedure. Patients who follow healthy eating practices and avoid tobacco and alcohol will see faster recovery periods.
