If you’re interested in a rhinoplasty (sometimes referred to as a ‘nose job’) – you may be concerned about the amount of time you need to take off for recovery. After all, you have a busy life to lead. Between work, family, and other obligations, you want to make sure you fully understand the recovery time for a rhinoplasty.
So when it comes to rhinoplasty recovery time, what should you expect?
- You should definitely plan on taking at least a week off from work to recover from your rhinoplasty procedure. During this recovery period, Dr. Correa will provide you with instructions on how to care for your nose, as well as how to sleep in a comfortable position. You will also be provided pain medications to manage any discomfort after the procedure.
- During the first week of the recovery, Dr. Correa will check on you and adjust or change any dressings. At this time, you will also get your first peak at your new nose.
- Many patients choose to leave 2 weeks for recovery, primarily to allow a greater resolution of swelling and/or bruising from the procedure, as well as to ensure that all dressings are removed. Be sure to discuss your concerns regarding when to return to work during your consultation.
- Some degree of bruising and swelling is expected though there is a wide variation in severity. Some patients have only a minimal amount and by the end of 10-14 days don’t look like they had surgery, in others it can take a few weeks.
