The eyes are the ‘window into the soul’ – but what if yours aren’t giving their best impression? The area around the eyes is one of the first to show the signs of aging. Sagging skin around the eyes can make you appear tired and older than you actually are. The skin in this area is very thin, offering little resistance to the formation of wrinkles and puffiness. Drooping eyelids can interfere with every day tasks and cause difficulty seeing. Eyelid surgery can help you look less tired, more rejuvenated, and younger.
There are two types of eyelid surgery: upper eyelid and lower eyelid.
Upper eyelid surgery addresses vision problems associated with sagging skin. It also corrects chronic puffiness and sagging skin located in the upper eyelids. Upper eyelid surgery involves tightening the skin and muscles in and around the eyelid. It may also require the removal of excess fat in the eyelid area.
Lower eyelid surgery is can correct bags and wrinkling under the eyes and tighten a drooping lower lid. Excess fat is removed through an incision just under the lower lashes or from behind the lid. In addition to removing lower eye bags, Dr. Correa may recommend an additional procedure to remove any darkness that has developed. Eyelid surgery alone won’t address discolorations in that area.
The incisions in both upper and lower lid surgery are hidden in the natural fold of the eyelid. In lower eyelid surgery, the incision can sometimes be inside of the eyelid, leaving no scar.
Sometimes the combination of sagging eyelids, forehead creases, and droopy eyebrows can be making you look tired. Dr. Correa may recommend a combination of procedures to help you look your best.
